The laner provides directional control for packages as well as containers in empty or filled states.  The laner can be used in a static position for the diversion of containers or packages to a designated line or alternative process. It can also be used dynamically to distribute containers downstream in a particular pattern. Often these patterns are formulated for efficient distribution of containers into packaging formats. Similarly, a packaging laner distributes for casing. According to application requirements of both line speed and lateral travel, laners are manufactured as low-speed pneumatic, low-speed servo and high-speed servo. Additionally, they are defined by the number of positions, or lanes, to which they divert.
